What is exposure?

Exposure is the amount of light that is being used in the photo. When exposing light, you need to make sure that the amount of light is not too little or too much. When exposing light in a photo, you must make sure that it is a balance amount. With exposure, comes three main factors that each play an important role that brings life to your photos. These three main factors are aperture, iso, and shutter speed.

Aperture’s role when snapping pictures is that is controls the amount of light that can enter the camera. The aperture leaves a hole that can be big or small depending on the area you are at. When you are at a dim area, you would most likely have the aperture setting at f/1.0. When you are at a brighter area, you would most likely have the aperture setting on f/5.6. Aperture is the best when it comes to controlling the amount of light that will enter the camera.

Iso’s role is that it controls the sensitivity of the sensor to a certain amount of light. If you were in a dark room, you would need to have the iso on very high. If the area is filled with a lot of light and it’s extremely bright, you would need to have the iso on very low. This really controls the sensor’s sensitivity and how it will react from a certain amount of light being exposed to the sensor.

The shutter speed’s role is that it controls how long the camera is going to be exposed for. If you were to take a picture of action or a sport, you would have the speed fast. If it was very dim and slow, you would have to have the shutter speed very slow. The shutter speed basically determines how long it will be exposed to the light and background. Overall, these three factors work together to expose light and if used properly, it will make one beautiful picture.
